Frequently Asked Questions

What is Slide the City all about?

What is Slide the City?

Remember the glorious slip ‘n’ slides of your youth? Slide the City is that humble backyard vinyl’s big sister, all dressed up for an urban block party. We bring 1,000 feet of slick inflated vinyl (the biggest of its kind!) to your city streets, with live music, entertainment, and local vendors.

Is there an age limit?

Like most larger than life rides, all sliders must be 5 years old and over 46 inches tall. Tubes are for single sliders only, and lap riding is not allowed. If your child meets the age and height requirements, ensure they are capable of sliding 1,000 feet on their own tube! If you have any concerns, you can email us at info@slidethecity.com. All minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Do you have a charity?

Slide the City is a for-profit business that believes in giving back to the community, so we donate a portion of our proceeds to our many charity partners. For more information on your local charity partner, visit the web page for your race location.

Can I participate if I have medical issues or am pregnant?

If you have a preexisting health condition, we advise you discuss possible participation with your doctor. We discourage participation if you are pregnant or have heart, neck, or back issues or injuries. There is always a chance you can be bumped into by another slider, fall off your tube, or be knocked off your tube. If you have any specific questions about safety precautions, you can email us at info@slidethecity.com.

Is Slide the City safe?

Our giant slide is thrilling, but we do everything within our power to keep the safety level high. Our slide has three lanes, one for each of the following:

  1. Single Sliders: Only one slider allowed at a time;
  2. Family Lane: Parents with children can ride at the same time, holding on to each others’ tubes;
  3. Party Lane: Reserved for those craving a more wild ride.

There is always a chance your tube can be bumped into by another slider’s, or falling off, or of getting knocked off your tube. If you fall off your tube, LOOK behind you before standing up, and move to the side as quickly as possible.

Registration

What’s included in my registration?

We have three packages available. The Single Slider includes one single slide down during the time slot you select during registration. The Triple Slider gets you 3 slides down during the time slot you select during registration. The Ultimate Slider gets you as many slides down during your time slot, a Slide the City hat, and Slide the City tube.

How much does it cost?

See your local location page for current registration pricing. The earlier you register, the cheaper the cost!

Is there a kids price?

Nope, all sliders (young and old) pay the same price.

I can no longer attend, can I get a refund?

Registrations are non-refundable, but fully transferrable. You can give to a friend, a neighbor, or a little sister eager for tubular selfies. Selling to a complete stranger is also optional.

How do I transfer my ticket to someone else?

Login to your account HERE and modify the information (name, email, shirt size, etc) on your ticket to the new person. Yes, it really is that easy.

Can I change my wave time?

If there are multiple times available for your ticket type you can log into your account HERE and see if there are any other times slots available, if so you are welcome to select another time.

When is the latest I can purchase tickets?

Procrastinators, rejoice! You can register online up until the event date. Should there still be spots available, you can also register at the event. That said, the earlier you register, the cheaper your registration price, and some locations will sell out!

Packet Pick-Up

Where can I get my wristband and swag?

Did you pay to have it shipped? If so, you’ll find it in your mailbox, perhaps on your front porch, or if someone else so kindly brought in the morning deliveries, on your kitchen table. If you didn’t pay for shipping, you can pick it up before the event at your local packet pick up. We’ll send you an email with all the details 1-2 weeks before your race date.

What if I paid for shipping?

You can expect your packet to arrive in the mail the week of the event. If you didn’t select packet delivery when you registered, there is currently no way to add it to your order afterwards. Please note that we ship all of the packets that were included with your original order to the address included, but if you add more registrations later on, you’ll also need to purchase packet delivery at that time for the additional registrations.

What if I can’t make it to packet pick up?

That whole cloning thing would really come in handy for moments like this, but don’t stress, someone else can pick up your packet for you, they just need your ticket (e-ticket counts too!) or information with them. If you don’t have any friends willing to help out, you may want to look into getting new friends, or a personal assistant. If those options aren’t 100% viable, we provide one final option: pick-up on the day of the event. This last resort is not without consequences, however, as lines tend to do an extendo trick at the venue, so plan accordingly, and arrive at least an hour early.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes! What a treasured, selfless friend you must have. To pick up your packet, they just need your ticket or e-ticket.

Event Day

What time should I arrive?

Arrive 30-45 mins before your slide time. You can start lining up 30 mins before your wave time.

What do I wear?

What would you wear to a water park? Wear whatever you’re comfortable getting wet in! We advise against wearing anything with exposed zippers, rivets, or other potentially damaging hardware. You can hold or wear your water shoes, sandals, or flip flops while you slide.

What do I bring?

Bring the least amount of belongings necessary, this way you can strictly focus on getting wet ‘n’ wild- and documenting it! Necessities like your wristband, a phone, a waterproof phone case, a credit card, some sunscreen, sunglasses, and a towel or garbage bags to cover your car seats post-slide are crucial. Not advised, or allowed? Pets, bikes, scooters, weapons, lighters… you know what’s good for you.

How are the lanes set up?

  1. Large Group Lane
  2. Small Group Lanes

Can my family and friends come watch me slide?

Definitely! We just ask that they stay behind the fencing/caution tape for safety purposes. We also ask them not to gather at the slide’s exit point so as not to create a blockage for sliders.

Can I bring my phone or camera?

We highly encourage bringing such devices- just make sure they are well protected from the elements. We have waterproof Slide the City branded cases for sale at the events in limited quantities!

What about a selfie stick?

Your selfie stick is only welcome if you’re as big on your manners as you are on securing your angles. Your neighbors didn’t sign up for a stick in their face, and we don’t want anyone getting hit in the head, so please use your discretion. Before sliding, we ask you to please collapse your stick as tubes can easily start to spin. We don’t want selfie sticks to become weapons!

Where do I park? Is there a charge?

Check your location page to get all the details on parking. You’ll receive an email 1 – 2 weeks before the event with all the details, and if there are any traffic issues on event morning, we’ll alert you on the Facebook event page for your city.

Is there a bag check?

There is no bag check and there are no lockers. Our employees and volunteers are not responsible for babysitting purses, wallets, or a change of clothes. The best rule of thumb: if you don’t want it on your body during the slide, leave it at home!

Can I bring my pet dog, cat, or hamster?

We love your pets, which is why they aren’t allowed. For the safety of pets and all runners, please leave your furry/scaly/slimy/squawking friends at home. Participation will be prohibited should they tag along.

What happens if there’s bad weather?

We slide rain or shine- the wetter the better! For more critical weather concerns, check our Facebook event page for updated information. If the weather is deemed dangerous by your event director or local authorities, we will email you with cancellation or postponement details.

Will there be anything there to buy?

What kind of block party would it be without vendors? Aside from our requisite merch tent filled with Slide goods, you can check your location page for all the details on what kind of booths will be available at your event!

I lost something at the event what do I do?

All lost items are taken to our check in tent, but before they get there, they may be in the lost and found bucket at the bottom of the slide. If you’ve already left the venue, you can email us at info@slidethecity.com to help source any missing objects!

What if I have ADA needs?

Email us at info@slidethecity.com with the city you’d like to participate in and your needs, and we’ll do our best to assist you!
